Semilla means seed, in Spanish. A seed is a symbol of wholeness. In it we may find all that is required for the evolution of life on earth. Growing vegetables, herbs and fruits brings unending joy and a sense of community when we share with our neighbors the fruits of the garden. Learn how to prepare seasonal foods & develop practical cooking skills in our hands on cooking classes. Traditional cooking methods involve slowing down, gathering with others to share time and space.  Semilla’s Kitchen encourages a natural way of life, in tune with the seasons.

We encourage the support of local markets and growers, organic & seasonal foods and use these foods in the menus we create for retreats.  Sharing lovingly prepared meals at the communal table is one of life’s great pleasures! Cooking & eating is a soul nourishing daily ritual that can be enjoyed by everyone. Planting a diverse variety of seeds in the earth supports the continuation & preservation of traditional food plants. Save seeds from the plants you grow to be shared and planted again and again.

Semilla’s Kitchen aims to be a sustainable business by using organic, seasonal produce, sourced as locally as possible. We use biodegradable cleaning products, 100% recycled post consumer printing paper, solar power as much as we can,  supporting local businesses, recycling and composting.
